About Me

Hi, I’m Zach! I’m a creative professional with a background in graphic design, UX, and production coordination—and a passion for building experiences that are not only polished and engaging but also accessible and inclusive.

I earned my degree in Graphic Information Technology from Arizona State University, with a secondary focus in usability and psychology. That foundation deepened my understanding of how design affects real people, and I’ve carried that focus into both web and marketing materials—ensuring they work for everyone, without exclusion.

With nearly a decade of experience, I’ve thrived in fast-paced roles—designing digital and print visuals, coordinating live productions for audiences from 5 to 5,000, and mentoring creative teams. I’m passionate about blending vision with execution, making sure every project not only looks great but works seamlessly. Whether I’m designing, troubleshooting, or training, I aim to be the calm in the chaos—someone people know they can count on.

One core value I live by—thanks to my mom’s advice that “if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well”—is leading with integrity and excellence. To me, success isn’t just flawless execution; it’s a commitment to learning, adapting, and creating work that connects meaningfully with all audiences.

Portfolio

Here’s a quick glimpse of a few projects I’ve done in the past few years.

The Event

Developed as a branding package for studentlife, the student ministry at Real Life, “The Event” included content for multiple mediums (social and digital). To captivate middle & high school students, bold colors and large text were employed.

EarsJohnny!

Inspired by the movie “The Shining,” the branding for this Etsy shop, EarsJohnny!, plays off the phrase “Here’s Johnny!” The shop creates Disney-inspired ears and other products. The logo design incorporates its own “Mickey Ears” and uses a playful yet commanding font.

Expand His Family

Created as a full graphic package for a new message series at One Family Church, “Expand His Family” centered on the church’s mission to grow spiritually and numerically. The design combined warm, inviting colors with bold retro-inspired typography and hand-illustrated visuals to reflect both a sense of belonging and expansion. Assets included series branding, slides, social graphics, signage, and visual elements tailored for both in-person and online services.

Words On Wood

This refreshed branding package reimagines the look and feel of the Etsy shop Words On Wood, bringing a modern edge to its rustic roots. The design uses a warm wood-textured typographic logo paired with clean negative space, creating a visual identity that feels handcrafted yet professional. The update included logo redesign, visual language, typography standards, and color palette — all crafted to better reflect the shop’s balance of personalization and polish.

“How To Make the Perfect French Press”

Inspired by Buzzfeed’s “How To” TikTok videos, this project for GIT 502: New Media Internet Tech uses text, visual elements, and up-tempo music to engage viewers. The TikTok video is designed to convey the right amount of information within a one-minute time frame.

Now Brewing

Designed as a creative project for GIT334: Image Editing & Manipulation, this “Now Brewing” cover drew inspiration from Starbucks’ internal seasonal magazine. The design adheres to Starbucks Creative Expression, ensuring alignment with official branding guidelines.

studentlife | Instagram Stories

In early 2020, as COVID-19 forced student ministry online, there was a need for easily sharable and understandable content. To address this, we created a unique design package for our Instagram Posts and Stories. The designs cleverly mimicked the look of phone notifications from various popular platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and Twitch. This approach was designed to resonate with teenagers, making the content more relatable and engaging, and encouraging wider dissemination among their peers.
